Personal Productivity
How productive are you? Do you know the best times of the day to work? Do you know why? How long are your focus sessions? How distracted do you become? What distracts you? How do you avoid distractions? Of course, there are no set answers to any of these questions; they are answered differently by each of us. And, of course, the big question is how productive do you need to be and want to be?
Personal productivity is aligned to your values and measures of achievement. Individual productivity also adapts to your work environment. How often have you heard “I was so much more productive at home” over the pandemic years? Although some found it challenging, many found a sense of freedom and became uber-productive.
While working from home, I discovered that I was a morning person, happy to be at my desk by 7 am and that with focus (I used an app on my phone to keep me on track), I completed my work mainly before lunch. This allowed me to complete other household tasks while still meeting additional work commitments in the afternoon. Sounds good, right! Keep in mind that you may not be a morning person, and for you, that 7 am start might be 11 am or 1 pm; that’s the beauty of recognising your productivity timeframes.

This will depend on your job, and the post-pandemic world will mean more structure around working hours. But the post-pandemic world also means many employers are more willing and capable of working with their employees in a collaborative hybrid work environment. So, if you have personal productivity worked out, open your mouth and speak with your manager. Believe me; they want to get uber-productivity out of you as much as possible.
